Yuri San: Oishi biiru desu ne (Nice beer)
Hiro San: Kirei na onna no hito (Pretty lady)
A glimpse of Saijo. Saijo is a small town in Higashi Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture. I'm going to tell some random little things through photos about this town, who knows, you'll come here someday.

Henny, absolutely stunning adv - I love those old advertisements and poscard:)
Beautiful ad !
I love those old adds !
This is a really atmospheric, nostalgic photo. It makes me wonder what the atmosphere is like inside the bar.
The “beer lady” looks like a moga (“modern girl”) from the Taisho Period (1912-1936) モガ(モダンガール)。Any earlier and she’d be wearing a kimono and look like someone in this beer ad from the Meiji Period (1868 - 1912).
Monpe モンペ、baggy trousers like this were all the rage in the early Showa Period (1926 - 1989). It was easier for women to contribute to the war effort that way. Not so much conspicuous beer consumption in that harsh period.
A more modern beer ad can be seen here. But I’m afraid styles in Japan are changing once again. Adults are out of luck these days. Take a look at who the beer market is aimed at now. OK. It’s not real beer. It is said to taste like apple juice.
What a classic poster! I like the dark wooden wall behind it too :)
Really beautiful ad, but so 'unjapanese' to me...
Beer and soft drinks were, many years ago, my only source of japanese writings, fuelling my curiosity about those strange signs.
A great ad. Many of these old posters are so much more interesting than the new shiny ones:-)
