A glimpse of Saijo. Saijo is a small town in Higashi Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture. I'm going to tell some random little things through photos about this town, who knows, you'll come here someday.
Some souvenirs from Hiroshima yesterday at Peace Memorial Ceremony 2009. August 6th and 8th 1945 is remembered as the days when atomic bombs dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki which killed as many as 200.000 people in both cities. This old lady is perhaps one of the survivors still alive today. She told story, sang songs and gave encouragement in front young women by the river. Sending some prayer after floating a lantern in the river. The lanterns floated in the Motoyashu river is an annual activity in the afternoon during the ceremony.

Very nice photos from a very important anniversary. The anniversary was also remembered in the Finnish capital and here's my daily photo blog post about it:
Saijo is one of the towns that make up Higashi-Hiroshima City. In April 1973, Saijo was chosen as the home of the relocated Hiroshima University.
There is one thing very popular about Saijo, it is sake. Since July 1995, Saijo was made the home of the Brewery Laboratory of the National Tax. Each October there is also the Saijo Sake festival.
